Request Services

In order to work on an instrument in the Histology Core or request a Lab Manager Project, Internal and External users must:

Internal Users

  • Register at SUMS
  • Join a billing group via SUMS
  • Request payment information (Project Number and Doc ID Number) from the financial person that supports your adviser.  Please contact Taneka Dixon in accounting to obtain instructions on how to enter payment information via SUMS
  • Request access to the Histology Core
  • Schedule and complete a consultation with the lab manager via SUMS 
    1. SOPs, protocols & guidelines will be sent
    2. Only scheduled from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
  • Schedule and complete an official training session with the lab manager via SUMS
    1. Lab manager schedule is booked a week in advance
    2. Send availability for the following week
    3. No on-the-spot trainings 
    4. Only scheduled from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
  • Go to SUMS and request access to the Histology Equipment that you have been trained to use.
  • After receiving official training, if you have IBB building access, email your gtID # to Aqua Asberry to gain door access to the Histology lab. If you DO NOT have building access, please visit the front office to obtain, properly fill out, and return the blue building access form to the front office along w/ your Right-To-Know certification

External Users

Lab Manager Projects

If a person, institution, or company is interested in getting the lab manager's to complete a Histology project, a representative must provide a detailed scope of work and ideal turn-around time for the completion of the project.  This information determines if the Histology Core can meet the customer's demands.

Internal Users

  1. Check to see if you have access to the Histology core via SUMS.  If you do not have access, request it.
  2. Contact the lab manager via SUMS
  3. Schedule a consultation to discuss the project 
  4. Fill out a Histology Project Request Form. All of the necessary information that the lab manager needs to know is on this form. 
  5. Obtain lab manager's feedback

External Users

Contact Steve Woodard to determine the proper steps to take to perform work in the Histology Core.  

Please have the information available below:

  1. User information (contact person)
  2. A detailed scope of work
  3. Desired budget
  4. Ideal turn-around time
