About ATL CleanTech Connect

In partnership between Georgia Tech and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the ATL CleanTech Connect hosts quarterly socials to engage members of the Greater Atlanta clean tech community to support innovation, ideation, startups and investment in clean tech and sustainability focused businesses. Industry, venture capitalists, Georgia Tech faculty and local leaders lead conversations related to cleantech opportunities in the region. We eagerly look forward to your positive response and your valuable presence at this event.

On July 16, over 100 attendees convened in the offices of Metro Atlanta Chamber for a summer spotlight on cleantech innovation, insight, and impact.   

This special edition featured energizing conversations on: 

  • Energy-Water Technology Nexus: WattAir’s Joseph Mooney shared how smart, connected technologies from leading-edge startups are transforming the energy landscape.

  • Cox Cleantech Accelerator Update: Miguel Granier from Cox Cleantech Accelerator spoke about his program and how it is driving both environmental and economic impact across Georgia and the Southeast.

  • Clean Energy & Tax Incentives Chat: Christian Warren from Midflare Corporation shared some key insights on how federal and state tax incentives are fueling growth and innovation in the U.S. clean energy sector—and what it meant for a business or startup.

The second iteration of the ATL CleanTech Connect for 2025 was on the topic "The Future of Sustainable Energy Solutions: Innovation’s Role in Driving Energy Resilience." Hosted by Portal Innovations in their newly opened Science Square location, the event included a panel-style discussion featuring:

  • Julian Bell, Vice President, Engineering, JTEC Energy
    Scott Childers, Vice President, Essential Power, Stryten Energy
    Nian Liu, Associate Professor and Robert G. Miller Faculty Fellow, ChBE, Georgia Tech

SEI's Director of Research and Studies Rich Simmons moderated the discussion.

The first ATL CleanTech Connect for 2025 was on the topic, "The Water Energy Nexus." The event was held on February 12, 2025 at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE). More than 75 attendees participated in an engaged panel discussion that included the following speakers:

  • Doll Avant, CEO, Aquagenuity
  • Jahanzeb “Jahn” Khan, Founder, President & CEO, 4Earth Inc.
  • Melissa L. Meeker, CEO, The Water Tower; IWA Fellow

The panel was moderated by Marta Hatzell, Woodruff Professor, Associate Professor, SEI Interim Deputy Director, Georgia Tech. 

2024

The inaugural ATL CleanTech Connect was held on January 17, 2024 at the CODA building on Tech campus, moderated by Cynthia Curry, Sr. Director of Cleantech & Smart Cities Ecosystem at the Metro Atlanta Chamber and featured speakers included:

In April, the event brought in speakers to discuss the topic "Financing Cleantech Hardtech Startups."

On July 17, ATL CleanTech Connect met at The Clubhouse, located in the heart of Tech Square, at 848 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30308. Discussions centered on "Decarbonization of the Built Environment" with a highly engaged panel that included:

In October 2024, the event was held at the ASW Whiskey Exchange on the topic "Sustainable Aviation – Ready for Liftoff?" Featured speakers for this event were:
