As chief research officer, Abdallah provides overall leadership for the Institute’s $1 billion portfolio of research, economic development and sponsored activities, including the Georgia Tech Research Institute, 11 interdisciplinary research institutes, and related research administrative support units.

Raheem Beyah

Vice President for Interdisciplinary Research

Beyah oversees all interdisciplinary activities including the Interdisciplinary Research Institutes, Interdisciplinary Research Centers, the Pediatric Technology Center, and the Georgia Center for Medical Innovation.


Robert Butera

Vice President for Research Development and Operations

Butera supports and develops the research enterprise, operating the internally funded research programs in collaboration with the colleges, overseeing core facilities and research space, and managing policies related to research administration and operations.

Rebecca Caravati

Interim Vice President for Research

Caravati is Interim Vice President for Research and serves as the General Manager, responsible for the financial and business affairs of Georgia Tech's two research corporations: the Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC) and Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation (GTARC).

Fite leads EI², a statewide, 12-program, 160-member organization and the nation’s largest and most comprehensive university-based program of business and industry assistance, technology commercialization, and economic development.

Jennifer Herazy

Herazy acts as a shared chief of staff of the provost and the executive vice president for Research to oversee organizational and operational alignment around various services and administrative functions at the intersection of the academic and research divisions.

James Hudgens

Hudgens leads over 2,400 employees conducting $642 million in research across a variety of disciplines, including science, engineering, economics, policy and technical expertise to address national security, state, and industry challenges.

Lew Lefton

Associate Vice President for Research Computing

Lefton provides campus leadership on strategic technology investments, agile and sustainable cyberinfrastructure, and leveraging and managing research data to advance the campus research enterprise.

John Toon

Assistant Vice President for Research Communications

Toon oversees the communications strategy for Georgia Tech's research and economic development program, including national and international media relations, and communications for Georgia Tech’s interdisciplinary research institutes.

George White

Interim Vice President, Office of Industry Collaboration

White provides expert support in developing strategies for expansion of the Institute's innovation collaboration with corporations, government, and academia to supplement the research enterprise at Georgia Tech.
