A Robot Designed to Protect the Power Grid and Other Critical Systems

The power grid, water treament systems and other critical systems are now connected to the internet which makes them vulnerable to cyber attacks that can cause physical damage and threaten human lives. Cybersecurity researcher Celine Irvene introduces the Honeybot, an early prototype of a new class of robotics security designed to protect factory and plant systems from cyber attacks.

Celine's work on robotics security has been featured in numerous media outlets including Digital Trends, Engadget, Engineering.com and Futurity. She works with Raheem Beyah, the Motorola Foundation Professor at Georgia Tech’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering where she is a doctoral candidate.

Celine's research focuses on cyber physical system security, robotics security, smart home and smart building security, as well as the concept of ‘Connected Everything’.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering, both from Georgia Tech. Celine Irvene’s work on robotics security with Raheem Beyah, the associate chair for strategic initiatives and innovation at Georgia Tech’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been featured in Digital Trends, Engadget, Engineering.com and Futurity.

She is a doctoral candidate at Georgia Tech where she researches cyber physical system security, with a focus on robotics security, smart home and smart building security, as well as the concept of connected everything.

Celine obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering both from Georgia Tech.
