Abstract – Will Bonifant will share how The Hershey Company, a company that has been around for more than a century, is leveraging technology and data to modernize their operations.  He will speak about the company’s technology strategy within the supply chain, which includes use of modern asset intelligence systems for data capture from the production floor, engaging employees by empowering them with the best digital tools, and setting a digital foundation for smart(er) factories, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, factory automation, and other manufacturing management systems.

  • Bio:
    • Will Bonifant is the Vice President, US & Canada Supply Chain for The Hershey Company.  In this role he is responsible for leading Hershey’s supply chain planning, distribution, transportation, commercialization, packaging development, continuous improvement, and manufacturing alliance functions that enable Hershey’s businesses in the US and Canada.
    • Will has held several leadership roles with Hershey across International Supply Chain, Engineering, Plant Management, and Strategy.
    • Prior to Hershey, Will worked for the Boston Consulting Group and the US Navy as a submarine officer and nuclear power regulator.
    • Will received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the US Naval Academy.  He also holds an engineering Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Hershey in 2011, Will was a Project Leader with The Boston Consulting Group, where he led projects in strategy, organizational design, supply chain transformation, and cost reduction.  Will’s industry experience has spanned confectionery, retail pharmacy, alcoholic beverages, retail office superstore, fast moving consumer goods, and consumer eye health.

Earlier in his career, Will spent 8 years as a US Navy officer. He served in many leadership and power plant supervisory roles on the USS GEORGIA, a ballistic missile submarine. He also spent 3 years as a nuclear power regulator, working in areas of electrical engineering and instrumentation design.

Will received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the US Naval Academy.  He also holds an engineering Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
