Nerem Conference Award (Domestic or International)

The Nerem Conference Award is an opportunity for a trainee (grad student or postdoc) from an IBB lab to attend a domestic or international conference. Up to $1,500 will be provided to the chosen applicant(s), and up to three awardees will be selected per semester (fall, spring, and summer).

Please include your entire travel budget, even if it exceeds $1,500. Please note that IBB will announce any recipient(s) of this award publicly (IBB website, social media, etc.).

2024 Robert M. Nerem International Travel Award

The Robert M. Nerem International Travel Award is an annual award that was endowed by Bob Nerem's colleagues and friends. As IBB's founding director, Bob passionately served the community as its founding director for over 14 years and successfully led the Institute to international prominence in bioengineering and bioscience.

Bob loved to travel and went to all corners of the world. It is through his travel that he served as a great champion for Georgia Tech and the bio-community.

BWF BioInterfaces Rising Star Award

Sponsored by the BioInterfaces SIG (BioI) and Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF), this annual award recognizes outstanding BioInterfaces research by postdoc-level scientists. The BWF BioInterfaces Rising Star Award seeks to stimulate and highlight research that advances a biomaterials lens to cutting-edge research in protein and cell biology, and, conversely, research that translates progress in molecular and cell biology into innovative biomaterials.
