The Robert M. Nerem International Travel Award is an annual award that was endowed by Bob Nerem's colleagues and friends. As IBB's founding director, Bob passionately served the community as its founding director for over 14 years and successfully led the Institute to international prominence in bioengineering and bioscience.
Bob loved to travel and went to all corners of the world. It is through his travel that he served as a great champion for Georgia Tech and the bio-community.
This award is an opportunity for a trainee (grad student or postdoc) from an IBB lab to experience research internationally. Up to $3,000 will be provided to up to three (3) chosen applicant(s) to travel abroad with preference given to those who will learn new tools or techniques. Please include your entire travel budget, even if it exceeds $3,000.
Additional Notes:
- All money should be applied towards international travel.
- The award is only given through reimbursement in US Dollar, no cash upfront.
- You must spend the award before December 31, 2024.
- The application package should be one PDF file with the following information in this order:
- Three pages (maximum) of project summary, overview of research, work accomplished, proposed future work and impact, and travel dates
- One page for figures (if needed)
- Two pages (maximum) for a list of references
- One page (maximum) for a budget: the budget may include air travel, lodging, meals, international conference registration, and transportation
