OPTEC LSV-Flex Micro-machining Laser System demostration
OPTEC LSV-Flex Micro-machining Laser System demonstration 2

This month we are featuring a brand-new piece of equipment, the OPTEC LSV-Flex Micro-machining laser system located in Pettit room 102B! This new laser tool can pulse through materials such as polymers, metals, ceramics, single, and polymorphic crystals. When the laser encounters the materials, they become ionized, creating a plasma cloud that leaves behind a clean, smooth surface. This laser is not that sensitive to wavelength absorption so there is a no-heat-affected-zone area on the part.

A new feature of the LSV-FLEX system is the HD zoom video microscope with better definition for alignment. It also includes 300 x 300 mm sub-micron resolution XY stages, high-speed scan head with infinite-field-of-view stage, Bessel Module, and an integrated industrial PC. We hope this tool will greatly aid researchers in the fields of microfluidics and photonics application. Keep an eye out for registration of the upcoming workshop in early March.
